Why is it that this is the time of year we reflect the most and think about what we are most thankful for? Is it the end of the year, the hustle and bustle of Holidays, being with family or friends, or the social norm and expectation put upon us? I am going with the later on this one this year. Because let’s be honest this year has flown by at what I am convinced has been record speed. You blink and a week has passed, take an extra nap and bam new month! SO here we are on the day where we reflect and express our gratitude for what we are thankful for.
I am taking a page from my oldest nephew and his project from school and decided to make my own '“What am I thankful for” bubble.
I decided it’s okay to be thankful for insignificant things and inanimate objects just as I am for the people in my life and the things that have changed or stayed the same. If our thankfulness never changed, would we really grow as individuals or as a human race? So, this year I have decided to embrace all the things I am thankful for. I hope that you will take this time to reflect on the things you truly enjoy and what brings joy into your life and what you hold dear to you.
While not all of us are lucky to be spending it with family or even friends. Some of us are alone, working, or fighting to find something to thankful for this year because again this year might be different and harder than previous years. Maybe your family looks different than it did a year ago. Maybe you’re different than you were a year ago, I am. But I promise you there is something. Just look for it an embrace it how ever big or small! I hope you can look back and reflect and find something you are thankful for while simultaneously stuffing yourself with turkey and green bean casserole (how I will be) with family, maybe at a holiday buffet, or alone eating whatever meal you find yourself eating… reflect and be thankful.
Be thankful for what you have; you'll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don't have, you will never, ever have enough.
